Jess Chen is a big fan of tattoos. She likes to wear tattoos, at the same time it is a real pleasure for her to draw tattoos. 16 months of the pandemic, that seemed like an eternity, when Jess Chen couldn’t draw tattoos, she decided to find another use for her creative potential.
She tried her hand at the beautiful art of making ceramics, practiced yoga and also designed clothes for various brands. After such a variety of activities, Jess Chen today returns to her favourite work of drawing tattoos.
Jess Chen as a Tattoo Artist
As for Jess, as a tattoo artist rather than a client, she admits to being very successful with clients. According to her, the clients fully trust her and give freedom in choosing a tattoo design.
However, she wants to cooperate with the clients, knowing their preferences regarding design style, colour and other features. She strives to create such an image that will fully correspond to the essence of her clients and will completely blend into their skin.
She avoids creating such a design that is simply invented by her and has nothing to do with the personality of the one wearing the tattoo.
Jess has the same approach regarding the placement of the tattoo. She suggests where the design will look good and then discusses it with the client. As a rule, the result of such collaborative work exceeds all expectations.
We should note that the floral theme is a predominant part of the designs created by Jess.
Referring to the pandemic, the artist notes that there has been no change in her work from a technical point of view. According to her, when creating her works, she always follows perfect cleanliness, and after COVID, the only change for her is wearing a mask.
As for ceramic works, Jess says that she became interested in that field even before the pandemic. And during the pandemic, she bought the necessary accessories and satisfied her creativity through pottery.
